Early Learning and Childcare (Graduate Apprenticeship) - BA (Hons)
A Graduate Apprenticeship is an opportunity for you to learn whilst you earn and this new two-year BA Early Learning and Childcare (Graduate Apprenticeship) will allow you to undertake degree-level study and develop your professional practice whilst working in an early years setting.
This course is ideal for early years professionals who are either:
- new to the sector aiming to gain practitioner registration or
- early in their career, looking to deepen and develop their practice.
This course will enable you to expand your professional skills, knowledge, and expertise to make a positive impact on children鈥檚 lives. Fitting around your work commitments, this course is a practical and integrated way to develop expertise with your current employer, who will also benefit from having you, a highly skilled, motivated and ambitious employee, on their team.
Completion of the degree leads to registration at practitioner level in Day Care of Children Services with the Scottish Social Services Council.

This Graduate Apprenticeship will allow you to expand your skills, knowledge and expertise. With further study, it could also support progression to a managerial role in the sector or to wider academic and teaching roles
Entry requirements
Please note there is no Year One entry for this course currently听planned for 2027.
Year Two: Typically, students will have an HNC in Childhood Practice at SCQF Level 7. However, we consider candidates on a case-by-case basis including taking prior learning and work experience into
account.
Eligibility Criteria for the Graduate听Apprenticeship:听The course is open to existing听employees and new recruits working听full or part time in early years听settings in Scotland.
You must also be:
- aged 16 or over (there is no maximum age limit);
- resident in Scotland and have been living here for three years before starting your degree;
- normally working in an early year setting in Scotland for a minimum of 21 hours per week; and,
- able to show that you have a right to work in Scotland.
